What is Bleeding Edge?

Bleeding Edge stands for the newest products or technologies that are so new, that the risk of being unreliable is very high due to their experimental nature. They usually have a huge potential of becoming game-changers as there are no other similar technologies to compete with, however, this is also the downside of the whole story. It’s not just risky because of the unknown territories and perhaps yet unknown threats of the technology, but customers also can be reluctant to try out and accept something so new.

The term itself is a play on the leading edge and cutting edge – which both mean revolutionary technologies, only with a little bit more experience and a little bit less risk associated with them compared to bleeding edge technologies.
