What is a Startup?
Startups are young companies founded to develop innovative and unique products or services, often in the area of tech.
Since startups are innovation-focused, they strive to either develop a niche and bring new products or services that do not yet exist in the market or to alter already existing ones. Therefore, a lot of startups operate by using disruptive strategies to develop their business, which is why they are also often referred to as disruptors.
Most of the well-known names in Tech were once, or still are, considered startups. Just think of big names like Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, and Google.
As a reference, Amazon was started by Jeff Bezos in his garage, with a help of only a handful of employees.
