What is Vaporware?
Vaporware is a product, typically computer hardware or software that is advertised to be revolutionary and better than everything else on the market – only it doesn’t exist yet.
A company might use this strategy to imply that they are more technologically advanced than they really are, and at the same time prevent customers from buying anything less advanced, even when this product is not yet available and might never go into production. It comes with a high price of advertising, which is not backed by the profits of selling the product later. This can give bigger companies that can afford to do this, an unfair advantage.
